Today, for the first time, an annual report in iXBRL format was successfully filed with the Business Register of the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KVK). This milestone marks an important step in the further digitisation of financial reporting in the Netherlands.

The annual report was originally drawn up in Word. The complete conversion to the mandatory iXBRL format was carried out by arcrole, with all the required XBRL markings applied in accordance with the technical specifications of the SBR domain Business Register, as laid down in the Regulatory Technical Standard (RTS) and the Reporting Manual. The auditor’s report was included as an integral part of the document, after which the entire document could be submitted via the updated Digipoort.

The successful filing demonstrates two important things: 1. It is possible to produce a fully iXBRL-compliant annual report from a familiar application such as Word, without compromising on layout or presentation. 2. The technical infrastructure of the Dutch Chamber of Commerce is ready to receive and process iXBRL documents.

This first submission marks an important new step towards accessible, standardised and digitally processable annual reporting.
